5 BASIC PROGRAMS FOR RIPLEY COUNTY
GENERAL PUBLIC

CITY/COUNTY:

 

  • General public (ambulatory or wheelchair) who are within the city limits of Doniphan and/or within 5 miles of Doniphan can ride on this bus.
  • This is an on-demand service - first come/first served basis. Reservations are taken the day before you need a ride beginning at 7:30 a.m.
  • This bus runs Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • You must be ready to board and return home no later than 3:30 p.m. or our bus can't take you home.

 

ROUTE BUS:

 

  • Poplar Bluff (North end one week, South end another week). Always Fridays.
  • Pocahontas, Arkansas (one Friday per month)
  • Driver begins picking up people in Ripley County at 7:45 a.m. and everyone has to be on board and ready to leave by 1:30 p.m. to head home.
  • Most use this route for shopping. Some use it for doctor/dentist appointments scheduled between 10 and 11 a.m. They must remember to be finished by 1:15 p.m. to catch the route bus home.

 

RIPLEY COUNTY ROUTE BUS TO DONIPHAN:

 

  • Transports all persons in Ripley County to Doniphan for essential shopping, errands, etc. on designated scheduled Mondays between 8 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.

MISSOURI MEDICAID

 

  • We are contracted with Missouri Medicaid to transport for authorized medical appointments.
  • All trips for Medicaid must be arranged at least 5 business days in advance by calling 1-866-269-5927.

 

 

24 HOUR A DAY/7 DAYS A WEEK SERVICE WITHIN 200 MILES OF RIPLEY COUNTY:

 

  • We have a general public (not income based, age based or need based) 24 hour service that provides transportation for shopping, going to the doctor/dentist (including VA), nutrition or even just visiting a friend.
  • Our transportation runs 24 hours a day. However, our office is only open 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Feel free to leave us a voicemail or email us at rctransit@windstream.net.
  • Each individual rider is requested to pay a minimum donation to their driver at the point of pickup.
  • One escort is allowed at no additional charge.
  • 16 & under must have an accompanying adult.
  • Car seats and infant seats are provided at no additional charge.

RIDER RULES

  1. Ages 0-16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  2. All riders must wear seatbelts unless the rider has a medical exemption.
  3. All trip reservations must be scheduled through the office, not with the driver.
  4. Cancellations are to be reported by the client to Ripley County Transit immeditely.
  5. Clients with strep, staph, fever, head lice, COVID symptoms, are not allowed to be transported until a medical release is presented.
  6. Disrespect (verbal or by action) shown to any rider, driver or employee of Ripley County Transit will not be tolerated.
  7. Lewd or sexually explicit actions, including verbal and clothing are not allowed.
  8. Ripley County Transit can and will refuse service to individuals that engage in violent, seriously disruptive, or illegal content.
  9. Riders cannot pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others.
  10. Weapons are prohibited, including firearms.
  11. Dress Code: Shoes, Shirt and Pants are required. No swimsuits. Shorts can be worn but must be at least mid thigh in length.
  12. Riders must maintain personal hygiene (showers, baths, cleanliness) as to not be offensive or hazardous to other riders or driver.
  13. Due to limited space on the vehicles, items taken on the vehicle are limited to only the amount the passenger can carry. DRIVERS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO LIFT PACKAGES.
  14. Eating and Drinking on the vehicle is strongly discouraged.
  15. Escorts are allowed to assist with passenger needs.
  16. Gasoline, Propane and other flammable liquids or combustible substances are not allowed on the vehicle.
  17. Items are not to be left on the vehicle unattended by the passenger at any time.
  18. Ripley County Transit is not responsible for lost, stolen items or items left on the vehicle unattended.
  19. Solicitation of any type is prohibited, including borrowing money from drivers.
  20. Ripley County Transit prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, sex, gender identity, religion or income.
  21. Riders are not to unfasten seatbelts or leave their seats when vehicle is in motion.
  22. Riders should request infant/child seats when scheduling transportation.
  23. Riders should request wheelchair vans and seat belt extenders if needed when scheduling their transportation.
  24. Oxygen tanks and other necessary medical equipment must be in good repair to be allowed to transport.
  25. Service animals are permitted. However, service animals that present a danger to the driver or other riders must be confined or constrained.
  26. Special seating availabilty or a particular accomodation can be requested but cannot be guaranteed.
  27. Route trips need to be scheduled at least one business day before the scheduled trip.
  28. Tobacco use of any kind is not allowed in the vehicle.
  29. Vaping is not allowed in the vehicle.

DENIAL/TERMINATION OF SERVICES POLICY

 

Clients who refuse to comply with the rider rules by Ripley County Transit will receive a written warning. If there is a second refusal, the rider will not be allowed to ride with Ripley County Transit for a period of 30 days. If there is a third refusal the client will not be allowed to ride with Ripley County Transit for a period of one year. If there is a fourth refusal Ripley County Transit will refuse transportation for the client permanently. All warnings and actions will be presented to the Ripley County Transit's Board of Directors. If a client becomes violent and/or life threatening to themselves, the driver or other passengers, the client's actions will be reported to local law enforcement. The President of the Board will be immediately notified and a decision will be made by the Board of Directors if the client will be allowed to ride in the future with Ripley County Transit and if legal charges are to be filed.
